The effectiveness of task clarification, positive reinforcement and corrective feedback in changing courtesy among police staff

Article Abstract:

Performance by the participants improved after their task was clarified. The results indicated that the need to define responsibilities is needed to maximize efficiency. On the other hand, feedback intervention and positive reinforcement suffered setbacks due to several factors, one of which is the ineffectiveness of positive reinforcement from outsiders. Participants value more their supervisor's feedback. It was concluded that it would be harder to implement performance improvements in the police force due to the varying situations they are subjected to.

Using feedback and reinforcement to improve the performance and safety of a roofing crew

Article Abstract:

Two studies were made to investigate the effects of feedback and reinforcement of labor cost and safety behavior among roofers. The results indicated improvements in average baseline safety compliance levels from 51% on the ground and 55% on the roof to 90% on the ground and 95% on the roof. The productivity of the roofing crew also increased due to feedback and reinforcement. Further studies are recommended on the effectiveness of this approach and its possible side-effects.
