The national registry of evidence-based programs and practices

Article Abstract:

The process employed by Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to evaluate the informational and decision-support needs of various stakeholder audiences, which provides a detailed description of the changes to the National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices (NREPP) system resulting from it, is described. The increased use of NREPP and similar evidence-based assessment systems might provide one important avenue for reducing the substantial time lag between the development of effective mental health and substance abuse interventions and their adoption more widely in routine clinical and community-based settings.
