US concern grows over secrecy clauses

Article Abstract:

A conference on secrecy in science addressed the issue, which is of increasing concern, as more university researchers form links with private industry. A US physician spoke of his experiences when it was claimed his broke a non-disclosure agreement over findings relating to a potentially fatal occupational lung disease in textile workers. An MIT professor and former director of the Central Intelligence Agency, claimed that the privacy of individuals should be protected, but that secrecy was a threat to science.

New study explores how women shoppers are changing the Web

Article Abstract:

Forty percent of Internet users are women who are using the World Wide Web for their shopping needs. These women are important targets for advertisers in the Internet because they are decision-makers in purchases and investments. Internet shopping is becoming more popular because of the elimination of the time restriction. It also removes sales pressure and the unwanted attitudes of salespeople.
