Demyelination and remyelination

Article Abstract:

Recent findings in myelin sheath biology and pathology are presented. Studies involving multiple sclerosis patients indicate that secondary degeneration of heat shock protein-reactive oligodendrocytes may be a major factor in persistently demyelinated lesions. Brain lesion immunopathogenic pathways also seem to vary between different patients or even between different stages of the disease in a single patient.

The number of Americans living outside the US increased by more than one million to 3.2 million in the 1990s, and many of these ex-patriates are retired people in search of the sun. The ingredients for success in this type of life choice include a sense of humor, confidence, emotional maturity, self-reliance, flexibility, and some knowledge of the local language.

Outer city blues: what began as a country utopia for the parents turned into a nightmare for the kids

Article Abstract:

A mother admits that life beyond suburbia was not idyllic once her children got to junior high school. The lack of professionalism among the teachers defeated even the parents' group. One son was sent to boarding school. At last, taking the other son, the family moved back to the city and were glad.
