The pose of knowing and the ambivalence of being known

Article Abstract:

A case study involving a family's relationship reflects the problems surrounding ambivalence or transference, with the desire to be known against the desire not to be known. The attachment-trauma complex

Article Abstract:

Trauma damages the victim's internal sense of primary attachment, which results in feelings of abandonment and rage. A traumatic event causes a split in the patient's psyche between the ego's rational search for safety and its impulse to magically reunite with a protector. The trauma response propels the victim who has experienced extreme danger to seek security in a protective parent or group.
