The role of school context in the increase in young people's health complaints in Finland

Article Abstract:

A survey is conducted in Finland to study the psychological health of the students in various schools depending on the three main points which are student's specific features, family influences and school based features. However, the outcome indicates that the student's psychological health is influenced by his vulnerability and by the surrounding social and educational environment but these do not account for the decline in the student's psychological health.

Sustained attention and response inhibition in young children at risk for attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder

Article Abstract:

A combined continuous performance test and go/no-go task and the Day-Night Stroop Task (DNST) are administered to an ethnically diverse sample of 3.44 to 6.95-year old children rated by parents and teachers as being either high risk or low risk for Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). ADHD-associated decrements in performance on these tasks appear to be attributable either to generalized behavioral dysregulation or poor state regulation.
