Understanding the link between body checking cognitions and behaviors: The role of social physique anxiety

Article Abstract:

The bivariate associations between social physique anxiety and body checking cognitions and behaviors are examined. The results have shown that the impact of body checking cognitions on social physique anxiety might serve to drive the repetitive body checking behaviors, thereby contributing to disordered eating.

Using imagery in cognitive-behavioral treatment for eating disorders: Tackling the restrictive mode

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine how the use of imagery enables patients to distinguish restrictive thoughts from other cognitive perspectives. This technique facilitates conventional cognitive-behavioral therapy, freeing the patient to challenge his cognitions and to engage in behavioral experiments.

Variables that influence diagnosis and treatment of the eating disorders within primary care settings: A vignette study

Article Abstract:

The influence of clinical and nonclinical features of case presentation on the diagnosis and treatment of eating disorders in primary care is examined. The results show that female cases are more likely to receive an eating order diagnosis, even when their symptoms are identical to those of males.
