Appearance questions can be misleading: A discourse-based account of the appearance-reality problem

Article Abstract:

Preschooler's success on the appearance-reality task is a milestone in the theory-of-mind development as young children's difficulty stems from ambiguity in the meaning of 'looks like'. The general conclusion is that children do not appreciate the difference between appearance and reality until late in their fourth year.

Category specificity in normal episodic learning: applications to object recognition and category-specific agnosia

Article Abstract:

A study of patients with category-specific agnosia (CSA) have great difficulty identifying visually presented objects from certain categories is conducted. An episodic approach in a series of studies examining normal observers' recall of newly learned attributes of familiar objects.
