Validation of a Behavioral Measure of Occupational Safety

Article Abstract:

A study to determine the relationship between organizational behavior and accident/injury rates is presented. Twelve departments of a farm machinery company participated in the study. A set of behavior safety rules was developed. It is hypothesized that the frequency of safe behaviors correlates with accident rates. A behavioral safety measure that has been validated is found to be a feasible method of estimating safety performance. A research review is included. Future research ideas are suggested. More objective and standardized injury reporting should be developed.

Development and validation of the Multidimensional Health Profile, Part I: Psychosocial Functioning

Article Abstract:

The Multidimensional Health Profile, Part I: Psychosocial Functioning (MHP-P), a self-report screening tool for use in mental health and primary care environments, looks at life stress, social resources, mental health and coping skills. It has been established that social-desirability response bias does not seem to have undue influence on scores on the MHP-P. However, it is significant that correlations between scores on the MHP-P and Self-Deception were stronger than those between MHP-P scores and Impression Management.
