Validity of selected MMPI-A content scales

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine the convergent and discriminant validity of selected MMPI-A content scales, including anxiety, depression, health concerns, alienation, anger, conduct problems and social discomfort. Results from MMPI-A and self-report measures of constructs similar to those measured by the content scales, provided strong evidence for convergent and discriminant validity, although the anxiety and depression content scales did not discriminate well between these two constructs. Overall, findings support the validity and potential utility of the content scales.

Short forms of the Wechsler Memory Scale - Revised; cross-validation and derivation of a two-subtest form

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to cross-validate the original formulas for estimating the Wechsler Memory Scale - Revised General Memory and Delayed Recall Indexes. Results showed that over 85% of the estimated scores were within six points of the actual score. Correlations were only slightly lower with 85% of the estimated scores within 10 points of the actual scores. These findings suggest that using only two subtests results in higher estimation errors, which can be used when less accurate estimates are acceptable.
