Lotus Development Corp's $595 Ami Professional 1.2 word processing software can successfully execute many page layout applications, as is demonstrated in a sample problem. The Microsoft Corp Windows graphical user interface- based package offers many of the features of sophisticated page layout programs, including tagging paragraphs with ruling lines, underlying master pages, linking individual frames of text in a group, special effects in paragraphs, automatic numbered lists and bullets and powerful drawing tools. The latter include 2D and 3D charts, polygons and polylines and circles and arcs. Combined with the powerful word processor capabilities, the program will satisfy most business page layout applications. What is lacking are some of the high-end capabilities of dedicated page layout programs. Design of a sample newsletter is detailed.
