Are computers ruining design?

Article Abstract:

The rapid spread of easy-to-learn computer software for designers has combined with the seductiveness of technological enhancement to create an entirely new graphic design profession. Most top designers agree that the software has made it possible for poorly trained and ignorant people to be put in charge of design. The influence of the technology can be seen in the similarity of much typography and shadowing, in the extremely busy and random look to many presentations, and in the decline of drawing as the hallmark of good design.

The business of creating logos

Article Abstract:

The business of logo design involves taking conservative elements and materials and using them to express a definable image for the company. For many corporations, the logo gives them a chance to enter the global marketplace with a single, recognizable symbol which might enter the world's consumer vocabulary. Some logos are redesigned to include new aspects of the company, or to convey a new direction the company has taken.
