Neue Zurcher Zeitung : 225 years: The editorial roles-but not the mission-have changed

Article Abstract:

Neue Zurcher Zeitung, (NZZ) founded in 1780, is a newspaper that has contributed to the formation of opinion in a democratic society and as such takes positions on political issues independently and on its own responsibility, based on its own competence. The NZZ's political orientation goes back to that to that important year (1985) when the editor-in-chief made it the leading voice of the liberal movement in Switzerland.
