Powerful moves; Autodesk Animator: you PC comes alive

Article Abstract:

AutoDesk Inc's (Sausalito, CA) $299 AutoDesk Animator is a powerful menu- and mouse-driven software package for creating and using complex animations in desktop presentations on MS-DOS-based IBM PCs and compatibles. The software offers five types of animation: cel animation, titling animation, polymorphic tweening, which animates transformational steps between an initial and final shape; color cycling, changing colors for various effects; and optics, the automatic movement of an object along a three-dimensional path. Animator includes 22 drawing tools and 26 'ink types' to create images and as many as 256 colors from the 262,144 colors available on VGA boards. Animated sequences can play at up to 70 frames per second. A run-time program, 'aaplay,' enables animations to be played on other microcomputers. A minimum of an 8 MHz machine with 640Kbytes memory, VGA board, 256-color display and 10Mbyte hard disk is required.

Successful slides

Article Abstract:

Presentation slides produced by a service bureau can be quality slides if users follow a few guidelines. As the first step, ask the service bureau what kind of film recorder it uses and which typefaces it supports. Use the drawing tools that come with the presentation program. Use sample slides to test colors. Align objects and type carefully, providing generous margins. Talk with the service bureau staff to find out what can and cannot be done before making the slides.
