Seeing digital in a Wired world

Article Abstract:

Wired Ventures' publishes an online daily, a line of books and the popular Wired magazine in several languages, but industry analysts remain unconvinced that the company will profit from its pioneering role in online media. Wired Ventures attempted two IPOs during 1997, but both fell apart amidst attacks from Wired's online competition and skittish investors. Wired's Creative Director John Plunkett counters these fears by emphasizing the magazine's profitability and their reinvestment of these funds into future projects.
