Spinning ales into gold

Article Abstract:

Seattle-based Pyramid Brewing Co is arguably the US' most successful craft brewer. Its sales grew 3% in 1996, to $26 million. In terms of graphic design, Pyramid is markedly different from other craft brewers. Since CEO George Hancock and his team assumed control of the company, it has relied on Seattle's Graphiti Associates for graphic design. Pyramid's advertising and packaging represent a clever mix of Classicism, pretension, and irreverent self-deprecation.
