The essential impact of the arts

Article Abstract:

Natl Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chmn Jane Alexander has fought conservative organizations and leaders to help save arts funding, but the NEA has suffered many losses. The NEA's budget has been decreased by nearly 40%, which resulted in ending individual grants and giving out only 736 grants. Alexander continues to battle the budget cuts by traveling throughout the country to help find new ways to support the arts. She has also participated in advocacy efforts that amount to information campaigns targeting the country's business leaders and politicians.
