Former cartoonist Tim Gilliam directed Monty Python's The Meaning of Life in the US., Jabberwocky, and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, among others. A recurring theme in his films is to use technology to diminish human imagination and contract. His films are about liberty - he left the United States 30 years ago for London, England. He shot Munchausen in Rome to enjoy the city.
