Webcams on the Internet: the computer as viewfinder

Article Abstract:

People can broadcast their own video images and access others' through use of webcam(era) technology that is now reasonable priced. With only a quality camcorder, a video capture accessory, and imaging software, people can set up a 'webcam' site on the World Wide Web. The real-time sharing of images is one-step towards creating a world of high-level communication in which people can instantly travel and interact anywhere.

The world of Sony ... online: a virtual work in progress

Sony's World Wide Web site, Sony Station or www.sony.com, combines marketing and entertainment in a sophisticated new way. One of the state-of-the-art features of the site is its Moving Worlds VRML 2.0 Standard, a Virtual Reality Markup Language developed in conjunction with WorldMaker and Silicon Graphics. The software gives users a three-dimensional immersion in Sony's site effects.
