Ready to stand alone

Article Abstract:

Box Properties Founders Simon Miller and Richard Wise plan to focus on property investment in the retail warehouse market on the out-skirts of towns. The new venture is backed by James Ritblat Delancey which has invested 50% of the funding. Wise and Miller suggest some major firms will be looking for retail warehouse sites away from retail parks. They anticipate the demand for space is going to become more competitive. But they hope to keep their business relatively small. Miller and Wise both worked for Chartwell Land before setting up their own firm.

Investors vote HITs a miss

Article Abstract:

Savills Finance had aimed to raise 80 million pounds sterling through its Residential Property Trust, the first quoted Housing Investment Trust (HIT) in the UK. However, it has had to abandon the launch following the withdrawal of two key investors. Observers believe that HITs have an uncertain future. Both the RICS and the British Property Federation have expressed concern about the impact on HITs of the government's removal of tax credit relief for pension funds.
