Back to basics approach: the commercial real estate industry at the millennium

Article Abstract:

The US commercial real estate market was adversely affected by recessionary forces towards the end of the 1980s, bounced back by the mid-1990s and has been growing briskly towards the end of the 1990s decade. While the business is highly cyclical, the most important lesson presented by the rebound of the commercial market in the 1990s is that the market downturn was not largely caused by poor real estate projects but rather by poor real estate practices. For the business to weather the next downturn, real estate professionals must adhere to sound, basic commercial property practices.
