Leaping high to get in step

Article Abstract:

The retail property market in the Tyne and Wear region of England is buoyant, thanks largely to the success of the MetroCentre in Gateshead. There is still great demand from retailers for space in the MetroCentre, in spite of the higher rents which have been introduced by its new owner, Capital Shopping Centres (CSC). It is thought that MetroCentre could be the UK's leading shopping centre in 1996, in terms of both turnover and profitability. The success of MetroCentre does not seem to have affected the Eldon Square retail scheme in Newcastle, also owned by CSC.

Stuck at a red light

Article Abstract:

There is strong demand for property development sites in the South Staffordshire region of the UK, but there is little industrial land available. Some planned development in Stafford is being held up by planning problems. There is growing demand for industrial space in Lichfield, while Lichfield's upmarket image as a cathedral city generates steady demand for office properties.
