Could a one-month lease be too long?

Article Abstract:

The growing demand for flexible accommodation has boosted the UK serviced offices sector. Serviced offices, or business centres as they are often known, provide fully furnished space as well as secretarial and support services. Typically, rents include use of equipment such as faxes and photocopiers, while firms can also hire other facilities such as video-conferencing on an ad hoc basis. Serviced offers are ideal not only for new firms starting out, but also for larger companies which need flexibility and speed and which are responding to labour market changes.

Heat of the moment

Article Abstract:

It is difficult, but not impossible, to obtain liquor licences for listed properties in the UK. Town planners, English Heritage and other advisory bodies are usually reluctant to permit historical buildings to be used for licensed premises, but will often give their permission if licence conditions are agreeable. Licenses are sometimes more easily obtained if the building is unused and unlikely to be used for other purposes. Brewery giant, Whitbread, finally won consent to sell alcohol in Wakefield after lengthy negotiations.

New lease of life for Old George

Article Abstract:

The refurbishment of Salisbury's Old George Mall could bring many changes to the city's retail sector. The area is set to become the prime retail pitch, attracting a number of important clients. Agents are expecting an upturn in the industrial sector too, although road improvements are still required. The office sector remains weak, with no new development space being available.
