Article Abstract:

The labor programs and tax incentive reforms introduced by Ohio Governor George Voinovich proved instrumental in enhancing the employment and economic conditions of the state. These incentives, aimed at providing more job opportunities and boosting exports sales, were able to offset Ohio's $2.4 billion fund deficit and generate $2.9 billion surplus, while reducing the region's unemployment rate from 7.2% to 4.3%. Such funding programs further improved Ohio's transportation infrastructures and created more highway and bridge construction projects.

Ohio Jobs Act

Article Abstract:

Ohio Jobs Act Administrator Howard Wise believes that enactment of the jobs legislation makes Ohio an attractive site for business expansion or relocation. The Ohio Jobs Act provides tax credits for companies that would create at least 25 new jobs within three years with wages at approximately $7 an hour. The state would prioritize manufacturing industries over retail or some service industries in consideration of programs.

Nothing happens until someone makes a sale

Article Abstract:

Ohio's Jobs Creation Act will only be effective if the new development tools are marketed aggressively. The Ohio Dept of Development plans to use the First Frontier Fund, a joint marketing effort between the state and its communities wherein the state department matches every dollar raised to produce an advertising campaign to make business executives aware of the new bill.
