Getting back into the driving seat

Article Abstract:

The county of Essex has suffered considerable economic problems over recent years, and unemployment is still high, at 8.9% of the workforce. However, there are now signs of a revival, with a number of leading companies making investments in their Essex operations. New industries, such as retailing, are set to take over from the traditional activities of manufacturing and engineering, and distribution and warehousing will be key growth sectors.

Queue jumping

Article Abstract:

The Botchergate site in Carlisle, England, is likely to become a center for leisure rather than retail now that public houses are taking up leases in the area. The pub operator J.D. Wetherspoon occupies a 331 square meter site where a Co-op retail business used to be situated. A research center and Internet cafe may be installed at Market Hall for the University of Northumbria.
