Global facilities go gangbusters

Article Abstract:

Economic growth is fueling the growth of global facilities. In particular, the emerging economies of East Asia, Latin America and former Eastern bloc countries are contributing to the explosion in global business ventures outside the US. Companies such as General Motors, Ford, General Electric, Motorola and Chrysler, which a survey has shown are the most active in global facility location, are opening production operations in developing countries to take advantage of opportunities for sales and profits that are opened by these countries.

Project pioneers fund global infrastructure

Article Abstract:

Planners of infrastructure projects worldwide are developing innovative schemes to finance power plants in Asia, Portugal and Latin America. In the US, where privatization has been spearheaded by independent power producers, local governments are increasingly supplementing bond issues with grants, state revolving loans and sales taxes. Overseas investments, however, have been constrained by the Mexican peso devaluation crisis which highlighted the political and financial risks associated with foreign investments.

Business park amenities - the finer points of life

Article Abstract:

Many of today's business parks offer amenities which are designed to help employers attract and retain a high-quality workforce. Amenities such as day care, fitness centers and educational facilities have become standard features in business parks. Many are also adding quality-of-life perks such as conference facilities and eating places.
