Setting the example

Article Abstract:

Women in Accountancy (WIA) was established in order to address the needsof women in the profession. It is also aimed at ensuring that the full potential of female accountants are taken advantage of. A joint effort among six of the major accounting associations in the UK, WIA has appropriated three roles for itself. One is to provide assistance, support and advice to its members. Another is to to inspire new ideas and support initiatives through lunch clubs, networks and courses. A third is to provide a forum for exchangingideas, encouraging and reinforcing successful efforts, and cautioning of untenable ideas. WIA also recognizes the need for changing certain attitudes inthe profession. The first group initiative of WIA is an article on itself and its aims, concurrently printed by the six accountancy societies on Oct 1992.

Herd at a party

Article Abstract:

The San Fermin festival in Pamplona, Spain, has for centuries centred around a bull run. This involves large numbers of people attempting to outrun six bulls during a race which lasts only three minutes. This takes place every day during the festival, while the rest of the day and most of the night is taken up with dancing, music, eating and drinking. The festival completely takes over the town, and creates a hectic atmosphere. The bull run itself is rather confusing, but is still an interesting sight.
