In the money

Article Abstract:

The 1998 estates Gazette study into the salaries of the top executives in UK property companies found the level of salary was not indicative of how well the company was performing in the market place. Some of the salaries did not include bonuses or share options. Highcroft's Gavin Kingerslee had a 10% increase to his wage making it 22,000 pounds sterling whilst at the top end of the scale Hemingway's Andrew Browne and Michael Goldhill had salaries of around 1.7 million pounds sterling each in 1997-98. Some two-thirds of those questioned received performance related bonuses during 1997-98.

Focused groups profit

Article Abstract:

A survey looking into the staffing levels in the top commercial surveying firms in the UK found the largest firms, with the highest turnover, did not always have the most productive staff. Harvey Spack Field had a turnover of 5.10 million pounds sterling, with the 15 employees earning fees each making 340,000 pounds sterling. Whereas FDPSavills had a turnover of 99.10 million pounds sterling but the fee earning staff earned 153,000 pounds sterling each. Across all of the companies the number of employees increased on average by 9%. The survey was carried out by the 'Estates Gazette'.
