Industry growth prompts a major plastics project

Article Abstract:

Polyethylene terephthalate resin and polyester fiber manufacturer Wellman Inc's growth prompted it to expand as existing facilities could not keep pace with customer demands. Furthermore, the firm desired to double its production capacity by 2000. It therefore opted to select Mississippi as the site of its new state-of-the-art production facility. The process behind the company's search for an ideal site holds many useful lessons for other firms also experiencing industry changes.

The Lord Reilly memorial lecture

Article Abstract:

Nicholas Grimshaw, the architect for Expo and Waterloo International, delivered the Lord Reilly memorial lecture on Oct 15, 1992. The lecture was entitled 'Structure, Space and Skin'. Grimshaw does not give the rest of his team at Nicholas Grimshaw and Partners enough credit for the contribution they have made to Grimshaw designs. It is unrealistic to assume that Grimshaw executed these tasks alone.
