The 140,000 sq ft Eastgate Centre will provided 19 units and is due to be completed by Dec 2000. The Academy Place development is under construction and will provide retail space of some 170,000 sq ft comprising of 40 units. The level of demand for office and industrial space is hard to determine resulting in few new development projects. The 85 acre business and retail development in East Inverness will open in Oct 1997.

Piece of cake

Article Abstract:

The 1960s Overgate shopping centre in Dundee, Scotland, is being replaced with a new 34,838 sq mt shopping mall, due to open for trading in autumn 2000. It is expected that most of the 50 or more smaller units will have been prelet by Sep 1999. It is possible that Marks and Spencer will take 11,148 sq mt, a move which would encourage other retailers to move into the new mall. Other planned developments in Dundee include the construction by Grantchester Holdings of a 9,290 sq mt retail warehouse at Kingsway West.

Article Abstract:

The retail markets of central and eastern Europe are currently at varying stages of development. In Poland and Hungary, there are still a number of ownership issues to be resolved, but the Czech Republic already has a relatively advanced retail sector, with the first shopping centre opening in Nov 1994. Austria's retail market is enjoying a revival, while construction of the first shopping centre in Bratislava, Slovakia, is due to start soon.
