Getting back on track

Article Abstract:

The commercial property market in the town of Windsor, England, has suffered from a number of problems, the prime one being the delayed pedestrianisation of its shopping area. The project began in 1993 and was only completed at the end of 1994, causing retailers to lose business from both locals and tourists. However, its completion has seen trade returning to the town centre. There is a short supply of large, modern office space and rents are rising. By contrast, a large number of small suites are available in Windsor's many listed buildings and rents in this sector are falling.

Paying the price for past success

Article Abstract:

The area of north Staffordshire, England, is inhibited by its proximity to Manchester and Birmingham, with industrial demand centering on the two connubations and neglecting north Staffordshire. The main town is Stoke on Trent, best known for its pottery and china industry. These industries have produced large areas of contaminated land, which has had to be reclaimed for housing and commercial development.
