Trading spaces

Article Abstract:

Welwyn Garden City, England, was designed as a new town by Ebenezer Howard, but no provision was made for town centre office space and most offices have been built on the periphery of the town. The focus of office development is Shire Park, where two of the largest tenants, ICI and Digital Equipment, are pulling out. There is estimated to be some 500,000 sq ft of office space available in Welwyn Garden City and neighbouring Hatfield, with take-up being spasmodic. An overview of the commercial and industrial property market in Hatfield is presented.

The building of the terminal has encouraged a flurry of activity in the office market and is set to have a dramatic effect on office development in the area. An overview of activity in the commercial and industrial property market in Ashford is presented.

Survival of the fittest

Article Abstract:

The town of Croydon, England, has emerged from the recession in better shape than many other office centres in the south-east. Croyden's vacancy rate for office buildings is the third lowest in the region and the town's real estate agents are optimistic about future growth. There is a scarcity of new office space and refurbishment of older offices is a popular option. An overview of the commercial and industrial property market in Croydon is presented.
