Mixed views continue to be expressed about the extent to which the Trafford Centre in Manchester, England, has affected the retail sector in nearby towns like Stockport, England. It is widely acknowledged that Altrincham, England, has been particularly negatively affected by the Trafford Centre. However, a number of retail developments are taking place in the Greater Manchester area, including a 100 million pounds sterling retail and community project in Bolton, England, and redevelopment of the former Magistrates Court in Stockport, England.
