Louisiana: energized for the 21st century

Article Abstract:

Louisiana's prime location by the Gulf of Mexico and the Mississippi River has made it a choice site for oil refineries and industries that depend on sea transportation of bulk products. The state's legislators have also amended its liability laws and created attractive tax incentives to businesses. The state has also formulated an economic plan that emphasizes the provision of quality education to its people to ensure a pool of quality workforce.

Issues are presented concerning the growing popularity of Tennessee as a location for business. In 1999 $6-billion of new investment was made in the state which has a good education and skills training programme.
