Monopoly matters

Article Abstract:

The UK Monopolies and Mergers Commission directed the Heathrow airport, England, authorities to follow a guide price for its office rents after it was found the rents in the airport had not fallen by as much as office rents outside the airport. It was discovered rents, in 1995, for an office building near the airport were 15 pounds sterling per sq ft whilst rents for offices in the airport were 41 pounds sterling per sq ft. Since the price guide was introduced rents in Heathrow have still risen by more than rents outside the airport. A rent review in not due until 2002.
