Movin' on up

Article Abstract:

The area known as Midtown, London, England, is proving a very popular site for office development with rents reaching up to 35 pounds sterling per sq ft. Some refurbishment schemes are being undertaken particularly in middle sized premises although few new speculative building projects are planned for the future. Offices in Midtown have been mainly occupied by barristers and computer companies but large corporate enterprises are beginning to move into the area. Anderson Consulting are planning to prelet a building at Holborn Circus of 330,000 sq ft.

Tall storeys

Article Abstract:

There are many controversial issues associated with the construction of tall buildings in the centre of London, England. Developers are concerned about heavy costs, but also fear that large companies will move to Europe if landmark buildings are not available in London. Some observers argue that a city of world status should have the flexibility to offer high buildings in a restricted urban environment. However, others warn that tall buildings must be of very high quality design and use appropriate materials.

Soho: mecca for the media set

Article Abstract:

The Soho area of the West End of London, England, has seen a rise in rents recently as potential tenants compete for attractive buildings offering facilities such as air conditioning. It has always been a target for media companies, and is already benefiting from the early recovery of the media industry from the recession. According to some estimates, up to 50% of recent office take-up in the West End has come from the media industry.
