Article Abstract:

The UK is set to see a considerable number of new golf courses open in the near future, even though demand for golf facilities has actually been falling. Many new courses have been making losses, and clubs have been damaged by focusing on taking custom away from their rivals, rather than on attracting people who have not previously played golf. However, some observers believe that the market is set to enjoy a revival.

Surveying firms are visiting universities and colleges throughout the country with the aim of attracting the brightest and best of the surveying undergraduates. However some have questioned the usefulness of some surveying graduates and may consider broadening recruitment policy to take in school leavers and those from outside the surveying profession.

In the last recession, the Scottish economy performed better than the economy in the rest of the UK. The population of Scotland is predicted to increase by 0.8% between 1991-2001. East Scotland has a good infrastructure. In 1992, Scottish GDP per capita was roughly 8,600 pounds sterling, compared to 9,200 pounds sterling in the UK.
