On the superhighway

Article Abstract:

The eastern emd of the M4 corridor in southern England is one of the most prosperous areas in the region, encompassing the major business centres of Slough, Maidenhead, Heathrow and Windsor. The area's superior communication links are the key to its prominence, with access to the M25 providing a rapid link to the centre of London. The main economic focus in the region is Heathrow Airport, itself employing 50,000 and with a further 20,000 people working in satellite industries. There is high demand for office space in the area from high-tech industries such as IT and telecoms.

A wealth of speculation

Article Abstract:

Maidstone, the county town of Kent, England, has suffered from a lacklustre commercial and industrial property market throughout the 1990s and the problem of oversupply still remains. However, there is a market for new speculative building in the area and developer Rouse Kent has applied for a 50,000 sq ft office building at the King's Hill business park. Low prices are also encouraging interest in industrial buildings.
