Oui, Quebec: Canadian R&D center signals Motorola's comeback strategy

Article Abstract:

Motorola Inc has made a major strategic shift away from its core hardware manufacturing business to software development and has established a software center in Montreal, Quebec. The move is part of a bigger strategic shift by the firm toward the 'systems-on-a-chip' market, which the firm believes will reverse its declining fortunes by facilitating fast track growth. The 500-employee Montreal center symbolizes a revitalized, reorganized company.

Intel's spectacular Southwest

Article Abstract:

The two states have seen a rapid influx of relocating and expanding companies due to their low labor costs, tax incentives, education work force, low utility rates as well as research and development facilities.
