Local property agents in Edinburgh, Scotland, point out old industrial sites in the city are being redeveloped into housing whilst industrial land on the outskirts is proving popular with office occupiers. Some speculative industrial development, on a 8.4 acre site, has gone ahead at South Gyle to the west of Edinburgh. Agents suggest Livingston may also increase in popularity with industrial occupiers as it can offer secondhand space. There is a possibility more industrial parks may be developed on brownfield sites in the future, to fulfill the demand for space.

American pharmaceutical research company Quintiles is setting up a 15,793 square meter warehouse in West Lothian, Scotland, to house an urgently needed worldwide packaging and distribution system. The company chose the site because it is conveniently situated near airports and motorway and is near to a good source of academic university graduates from Edinburgh and St Andrews. The site is attractive, established and large enough to house a further development in the future.

UK mobile telecommunications company One 2 One is building a Scottish switch centre mast at Hamilton International Technology Park in Lanarkshire, Glasgow, Scotland. The switch centre is being constructed by building firm Erikson using a bespoke design basis and will cost around 48 pounds sterling per square meter. It's mast is situated on 2,601 square meters of land.
