Plentiful stocks of optimism

Article Abstract:

The tenants of Standard Life's redeveloped Churchill Square shopping centre in Brighton, England, have generally been reporting strong sales. Almost half of the 83 shops and restaurants in the shopping centre are new to Brighton, and some are new, or quite new, to the UK as a whole. Retailers welcome the centre's good visibility up and down from each level, and believe that the centre has a good atmosphere. Weekly footfall has risen to around 300,000.

PFI bid thrown out

Article Abstract:

A consortium headed by Ulster and London Land has failed in its efforts to be nominated preferred bidder for the private finance initiative (PFI) Downpatrick Hospital project in Northern Ireland. The hospital now plans to seek funding directly from the Department of Health. The construction contract, worth 15 million pounds sterling, would have been the first full facility to be built under PFI in Northern Ireland.
