Public money makes the Mersey go round

Article Abstract:

The Merseyside area of Liverpool, England, is to receive a number of grants to redevelop its ailing industrial areas. The European Union will provide 630 million pounds sterling through its Objective 1 funding program. The area will also receive help from English partnerships and Merseyside Development Corporation initiatives. Speke will receive 40 million pounds sterling from English partnerships and 140 million pounds sterling from private enterprise to create a new business park. Other large-scale development projects in the area have been agreed.
