Question & insight: the future of site selection looks nothing like the past

Article Abstract:

Industrial Design Corp Site selection Mgr Richard Sheehy observes that site selection has changed dramatically in the US because of the nation's continuing economic boom. Many regions are economically prosperous, which has forced economic development officials to develop more competitive strategies to attract businesses. Sheehy believes that corporations have become less dependent on outside experts in making site selection decisions since 1989 because of the pervasive influence of the Internet and the increased access to information that it has brought.

Lottery money on the drawing board

Article Abstract:

There is a clear polarisation among architectural firms in the UK into three broad categories. The first is large, multidisciplinary firms with financial strength, the second is design houses and the third is jobbing architects, mainly firms which employ only one or two architects working on small schemes. The National Lottery is providing a boost for many firms, as it is supplying funds for a range of Millennium projects. Already, around a quarter of all firms are involved in such schemes.

Article Abstract:

They consist of an academic Master's degree, a diploma from RICS, and a certification by the Association of Project Managers, which is based on competence.
