Rousing cheer from Ware

Article Abstract:

It is now time to start making more rapid progress, according to property concern MEPC Corporate Development Director Robert Ware. He has focused on reorganizing the company, including selling overseas assets and making management changes, and is now seeking to drive the company forward. He looks at many corporate situations, but will not consider an acquisition unless there is a very good strategic reason for doing so. He does not wish to give the impression that he has been solely responsible for the revival in MEPC's fortunes.

BZW sounds alarm

Article Abstract:

Share prices in the UK property sector are too high, according to BZW, which is advising investors to move out of the sector. It believes that rents will probably not continue to rise more rapidly than inflation, and points out that leading property entrepreneurs already seem to be leaving the sector. BZW's views contrast sharply with those of other observers, with some forecasts indicating that the property sector will continue to benefit from low bond yields and rising rents.

Article Abstract:

Property investors are very positive about future market trends in the United Kingdom, according to an Investment Property Forum/Estates Gazette survey. Many are quoting raised rental yield expectations for 1997 and 1998. Office rent forecasts have risen by 1.9% to 4.9% and a rise in specialist distribution rents to 4.6% is anticipated. Investors are very keen to purchase retail property in the UK but are relatively disinterested in office buildings.
