Scheme at your peril

Article Abstract:

The Property Misdescriptions Act 1991 affects all builders, land developers, property sellers and those involved in renovation projects, with employees held personally liable if they give misleading statements while their employer may escape prosecution. Photographs or any other indication of meaning can signify a statement. The Act deems a statement misleading if it infers a falsehood or if its omission infers a falsehood, while a false statement is materially false. Defendants must show they exercised due diligence and took reasonable measures to avoid committing the offence.

Assessment explained

Article Abstract:

Formative and summative assessment are both used in the training of property valuation and management students although formal examinations still exist. A study in Australia found that feedback following both assessment and examination was of utmost importance to the student. Short examinations taken regularly by students has proved successful as it encourages feedback but may lead to students only having a token knowledge in some areas of the course.
