'Revolution's' battlefields: 'expandable infrastructure,' 'demand-side space.'

Article Abstract:

The 1999 conference of the International Development Research Council, which was held in San Antonio, TX, had as its foremost topic the need for the real estate industry to reflect the challenges of the corporate world. One of the speakers, Alan Webber of the 'Harvard Business Review' journal, stressed the importance of modifying office design to encourage innovativeness among workers. For Mike Vance, former dean of Walt Disney University, office design should stimulate the intellect, rather than merely focusing on aesthetics.
