The Northwest Ohio success story: taking on the world

Article Abstract:

Northwest Ohio has attracted a large number of industrial and commercial investments due to the diligence of its leaders to make the area favorable for investments. The area has a history of basic manufacturing industries and a skilled labor force which the area leadership has capitalized on by improving its communications, energy and transportation infrastructures as well as by providing skills training and enhancement to workers. The area also provided attractive economic and tax incentives. In a three-year period, Northwest Ohio has attracted almost $2.4 billion in capital investments.

NorthRhine-Westphalia, Germany's focus on technology development has made it a viable investment area. The cooperation between the government, universities and industry has made the region a leader in research and development and has helped developed its environmental technology. This unified effort has helped hasten the development of special applications of the research activities with the consequent aim of using these in the market and generating revenues that will offset research costs.

North Rhine Westphalia: center stage for the new Europe

Germany's state of North Rhine-Westphalia represent the country's and the EC's economic capital. It is located along the western border of Germany adjacent to the Netherlands and Belgium spanning about 13,150 sq mi. About 25% of the national economy is derived from North Rhine-Westphalia since it gets 25% of direct foreign investments. North Rhine-Westphalia boasts of high quality infrastructure, market access and labor force.
