Choosing the meat you eat

Article Abstract:

The large variety of labels which make claims about the quality of meat products, such as 'organic', 'free-range', 'outdoor reared' and 'traditional', do little to clarify the situation. The Meat and Livestock Commission has initiated a scheme called the Assured British Meat Scheme which encompasses all meat products. The scheme will monitor all aspects of animal welfare and food safety and it includes independent inspections. The new scheme will take years to become established and the standards it sets are not expected to be very different from current standards.

The U.S. Midwest: revived, resurgent and ready for business

Article Abstract:

The increasing business location preference for U.S. Midwest member states, especially Illinois, Ohio and Michigan, is proof of the region's recovery from low times since 1980. The major reasons for this development are the presence of talented labor and excellent transportation assets which are vital to any business. Likewise, the expansion of tax cutting policies and other business incentives and the establishment of business facilities, are added factors.
