Article Abstract:

Tourism plays a vital role in the economy of the county of Kent, and the UK government realises that it is vital to develop this sector further if tourists are not to be lured abroad by the opening of the Channel Tunnel. Against this background, it is prepared to sacrifice some greenbelt land to tourism schemes, a move which would not be acceptable elsewhere. Estate agents and property developers believe that many of the leisure and tourism schemes which are currently being planned stand a good chance of going ahead.
