The hills are alive

Article Abstract:

There are a number of sensitive issues facing the real estate industry in south-west England. The UK government has drawn up plans for large numbers of new homes to be built in the region, for example, but this will also require significant infrastructure improvements, such as bypasses. There is a shortage of allocated land, and this has meant that prices have risen to 741,290 pounds sterling per ha, presenting a further obstacle to development. It is also important for the region to offer a range of sites for large inward investors.

space constraints: despite a new pedestrian link and a redevelopment, lack of retail space continues to be Bournemouth's biggest and most insurmountable problem

Article Abstract:

Bournemouth borough council has revived plans to create a pedestrian link across the Square, after receiving Capital Challenge funding of 1.9 million pounds sterling. However there are still problems of lack of retail space in the town, although a site owned by Lionbrook PUT is to be redeveloped, with the aim of creating large stores and improving the town centre's future. Small businesses have also been returning to the tertiary areas of the town, surviving due to lower overheads.

Stirrings from the east

Article Abstract:

There is very limited demand for commercial property in the centre of Salisbury, England. Indeed, many former commercial sites are now being converted to housing. However, the industrial property sector is very active, with the key locations being the area around the Old Sarum Airport and Church Fields. The office property sector has been very quiet, but there are now signs of an improvement, even though demand for small suites in the city centre remains limited.
